Q: Tell us a little bit about the 2008 Beast Sports Amphetalean Challenge. Let's hear how you won it!
A: Over the course of 2007-2008 I had been under lots of stress and had not been paying attention to my physical health at all. It wasn’t until July 2008 when I couldn’t button a size 12 that I decided to step on the scale -- I was 160 lbs. That’s when I decided I had to do something to lose the 30 lbs I had gained over the course of the last 2 years. I went on the computer and signed into bodybuilding.com, an online fitness community that I had stopped being a part of when my weight started rising. I saw that The Beast Sports Nutrition (a supplement company) was holding a body transformation challenge and the grand prize was a trip to The Arnold! I applied immediately and got chosen to be one of the 5 contestants. The transformation took place over the course of 12 weeks and who ever had the best transformation pictures won. You had to use Beast’s fat burner (Amphetalean) and document your progress on the forum each day, other than that the rest was up to you. I went to the gym 6 days-a-week and lifted weights 5 days-a-week. My diet consisted of protein, complex carbohydrates, and natural fats which were spread out into 7 meals, 2 ½ hours apart. I documented my progress with pictures (every 4 weeks), getting my body fat % measured (every 2 weeks), and weighing myself once a week. By the end I had lost 30 pounds, 8 % body fat, and had changed my entire physique! I was beaming with pride and confidence; I had a fitness model body! All my hard work and determination paid off, several weeks later the winners were announced, and I (Faith Fitness) won!!!!!!!
Q: You've mentioned to us that you were a heavier girl. What made you decide to change?
A: I didn’t have the body I wanted and it was really affecting my self-esteem, at 21 there was no excuse for being overweight. It wasn’t until a size 12 got tight that I realized I had to do something if I wanted a change.
Q: What motivates you every morning to keep reaching your goals?
A: Seeing changes in my body is the number one thing that motivates me. I love lifting weights; it gives me the feeling that I can accomplish anything in this life. If I can push 5 more pounds than yesterday, I can be a better person than yesterday, I can be smarter, faster, braver, etc. Lifting weight has changed my view on life, I believe with consistency and discipline anything, physical or mental can be accomplished. The Beast Challenge has taught me to set goals, to achieve them, and set another. I am constantly moving forward and challenging myself every day, and I owe it all the The Beast Sports Nutrition.
Q: What sets you apart from the rest of your competition (what's your Sportvantage)?
A: I do not know anyone who is willing to sacrifice the small things in life to get to their dreams like I am. I am constantly working toward a goal and I never stop until I get there. I believe my passion and determination is what sets me apart from the competition, I always aim to win.
Q: What was the best advice given to you most recently that you would like to share with others?
A: I use quotes a lot to keep me motivated, here is my favorite:
“If you want something you have never had you must do something you have never done before.”
